Greyhound Racing Betting Tips Week 18th August 2016

All eyes will be on Monmore this evening as the midlands track stages the finals of the Trafalgar Cup, Summer Classic and Gold Cup live on Racing Post Greyhound Tv. Catch all the action on Sky channel 468 from 7.15pm tonight.

The first race to highlight is the Ladbrokes British bred open race at 7.39 from Monmore over the standard four bend trip of 480 metres. Ideally drawn on the rails Calco Flyer looks a spot of value at 7/2 with race sponsors Ladbrokes and he should go close with a ping break. Our selection won well at Sheffield last time out in impressive fashion and is clearly running very well at the moment, trap out in best fashion tonight and it’s race on. Carlos Court looks a worthy race favourite from T6, the wide seeded runner won well over course and distance back on the 4th August and has claims on that run.

At 7.56 Billys Bullet will take all the beating in the 684 metre six bend open race from T2. The Mark Wallis trained railer looks well drawn to turn handy and if he avoids an early bump around the first couple of bends he can hit the front by the fourth bend and take this race. Those looking to back Billys Bullet should take the 6/4 on offer with Bet365 this afternoon as he’s likely to open a little shorter on track tonight. Roxholme Hottie (T3) and Mustang Golden (T4) are both capable sorts and would be huge dangers granted clear runs.

Southfield Jock (T5) is drawn a little wider than ideal in the 8.11 open race but with a ping break the Hove raider can clear those drawn inside and make all. The Seamus Cahill trained son of Droopys Scolari will need to break in best fashion but with a level break he should hit the front off the second bend and kick clear down the back straight. Solo wide seed Sallows Ford (T6) has chances from what looks a plot drawn and at 8/1 with Skybet he could be worth a small bet. Droopys Turin (T1) is a pacey sort and has chances with a level break.

At 8.26 look out for Shellam Maeby who makes her eight bend debut from T1 in the 835 metre open race. The Jimmy Wright trained Newcastle raider has been staying on well over six bends and flying to the pick up hinting that this trip will suit, tonight on eight bend début she is thrown into the deep end in a competitive race but has chances if granted a clear run early on. If you are looking to back Shellam Maeby take the 11/4 on offer with Boylesports this afternoon as shes likely to open shorter on track tonight. Ribble Atom (T4) and and recent Tv Trophy winner Borna Mindy (T5) are consistent eight bend performers and rate as the dangers.

The Trafalgar Cup final at 8.41 looks at the mercy of Droppys Trapeze who lines up from T1 for trainer Jimmy Wright. Ideally drawn on the rails it’s hard to see past Trapeze in this final but at 4/7 with Bet365 he’s not really a betting proposition. Those looking for a forecast bet in the race could do worse than play Trapeze to win the race with local runner Frankies Lad (T2) to finish second, check out Bet365 for the prices on that forecast a little later on.

The Summer Classic final at 8.56 can go to the Perry Barr raider Fearsome Phantom who runs from T1 for trainer Pat Rosney. The May 14 son of Westmead Hawk impressed in the heats and looks well drawn tonight to win again over the 630 metre trip. The key to victory will be the break and run around the first couple of bends, follow likely race leader Ballymac Ramsey (T2) and Phantom should pick up that rival late on. Ferryforth Fran (T4) and Shellam Delano (T5) are both capable sorts and have chances with level breaks.

Droopys Buick is in flying form at the moment and if the Newcastle raider repeats the 4.34 sectional and 28.12 clock from last week he can take the Gold Cup final at 9.12. The key to victory will be clearing those drawn inside to the first corner, lead round and it should be all over bar the shouting down the back straight for those that have taken the 7/4 on offer with Bet365. The main danger could be Jaytee Spartacus from T2, the Paul Young trained Romford raider is blessed with blistering back straight pace and would be a danger to all with a level break.
