Arsenal v Man City Betting Tips – 1st March 2018
Arsenal fans can add Sunday’s Carabao Cup final performance to their list of gripes against Arsene Wenger.
The Frenchman has been losing support among the Gunners fanbase for years now and their lacklustre performance in a 3-0 defeat against Man City at Wembley did nothing to support his claim that he remains the best man for the job at Arsenal.
Arsenal were shocking from back to front and were lucky that Man City didn’t put more than three past them. Unfortunately, the Gunners have no time to lick their wounds as they face Man City once more on Thursday night.
After winning their first piece of silverware under Pep Guardiola, the Citizens are getting ever closer to confirming the Premier League title and will be confident about taking another step closer by beating Arsenal for the third time this season.
No Sign of an End to Wenger’s Problems
He’s never said so publicly, but it’s safe to assume that Arsene Wenger is no fan of Arsenal Fan TV. The YouTube channel that interviews Gooners after matches hasn’t exactly been a hotbed of support for the Frenchman and they were particularly angry about the lack of application on show at Wembley Stadium.
Gary Neville was equally damning about Arsenal’s performance and application levels in commentary.
You’d think that would hurt the professional pride of the Arsenal players and that they’d do anything to prove themselves against Man City again. But how many times have we seen them follow up one poor performance in a big match with another?
Even if Arsenal did turn in their best performance out of nowhere, it’s still questionable as to whether they’d have the beating of Man City on Thursday night.
Guardiola’s men are in no danger of slowing down until they confirm their league title and they should have little problem dispatching of Arsenal once again at odds of 4/5 with Betfair.
Jesus to Add to Arsenal’s Woes
The sight of Vincent Kompany celebrating scoring in the cup final was enough to bring a smile to most football fans.
Man City’s captain has suffered over 40 injury setbacks in his time at the club but each time he put his head down and worked on his recovery. Kompany was rewarded with an enormously welcome goal but he wasn’t the only Man City player to return from injury at Wembley.
Gabriel Jesus got on off the bench to provide City with another world class attacking player as their turn their attentions to winning the Champions League.
Jesus may well get the chance to start at the Emirates and looks a good bet to score anytime at 13/10 with Paddy Power.
Of course, Jesus is just one of several Man City players capable of exploiting yet more awful Arsenal defending.
If the away team get off to a fast start, the atmosphere at the Emirates could well turn toxic allowing Man City to coast to another comfortable win.
For that reason, a bet on Man City scoring over 2.5 goals is tempting at 7/4 with Betfred.
Aubameyang to Provide at Least a Crumb of Comfort
The one bit of good news at Arsenal lately is the double signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The duo played very well together at Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal fans are hopeful they can strike up another partnership in North London.
It’s hard to imagine Arsenal being completely toothless at the Emirates so bet on Aubameyang to score their first goal at 9/4 with Sky Bet.
A repeat of Man City’s 3-1 win over Arsenal when the two met at the Etihad also looks a tempting bet at 25/2 with 10Bet.
