Arsenal v Man City Betting Tips – 25th February 2018
As the old saying goes, the only thing to do when you get knocked down to your knees is to get straight back on the horse.
Pep Guardiola will have that sentiment in his mind following Man City’s shock FA Cup defeat at the hands of Wigan on Monday night.
Fortunately for Guardiola and his City players, their next match is the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal early on Sunday evening. Not only does it give them the chance to put Monday’s disappointment behind them but a win would give Guardiola his first trophy since taking over at the club.
Arsene Wenger has won most things since taking over at Arsenal but the League Cup has so far alluded him. He’ll be keen to right that wrong at Wembley Stadium whilst hopefully quelling some of the bad feeling between himself and large sections of the Arsenal support.
Beware the Wounded Animal
If anybody was in any doubt as to how much the FA Cup meant to Pep Guardiola they only had to look at his behaviour at the DW Stadium.
The Man City manager raged at the decision to send Fabian Delph off in first-half stoppage time and was involved in an altercation with Wigan staff on the way to the changing rooms at half-time.

The defeat hurt the pride of everybody involved with Man City and it ended their hopes of winning an historic four trophies in one season. However, it will surely spur the team on for the Carabao Cup final.
Arsenal want to win the trophy to put a positive spin on another disappointing season but you get the feeling that Man City need to win after failing to win any trophies in Guardiola’s first campaign.
We think the Gunners will have their moments in the game even if Man City make it look comfortable come the final whistle.
So rather than simply backing the favourites, bet on Man City to win and both teams to score which is 15/8 with William Hill.
For a bigger return on that outcome, it could be worth betting on the Man City 3-1 correct score. That was the score when the two teams met at the Etihad earlier in the season and it’s available at a tempting 11/1 with Betfair.
Another tempting option is to take the 13/8 that Paddy Power are quoting on Man City scoring over 2.5 goals. They’ve certainly got that in their locker and with the extra bit of determination won’t be willing to show Arsenal any mercy.
De Bruyne to Make an Impact from the Start
You can’t accuse Pep Guardiola of not taking the FA Cup seriously. He put out a strong team at the DW Stadium but he did rest some of his best players.
Kevin De Bruyne was one of those to be relegated to the bench on Monday night. The Belgian made an impact as soon as he took to the pitch but was unable to turn the tide in Man City’s favour.
De Bruyne is arguably the best player in England on current form and he’ll be very keen to grab his chance to shine on the big stage. Expect him to pull the strings for Man City and even to get on the score sheet himself.
