Carling Cup Quarter Finals Betting Preview

This week brings the quarter finals of the Carling Cup competition and promises to produce 4 top quality games. On the Tuesday we have Arsenal entertaining Wigan and West Ham United hosting Manchester United then the Wednesday brings the 2nd city derby between Birmingham City and Aston Villa plus Ipswich Town versus West Brom.

Firstly we’ll take a look at the Tuesday games as both of these games offer interesting bets and some excellent odds. The Arsenal Vs Wigan game has some fascinating odds with Arsenal being firmly odds on favourites. At the moment most bookies have Arsenal around the 2/7 mark but both Sky Bet and Boylesports are offering bets betting price here with odds of 3/10. Many people would look at those prices and think that is a bit short seeing as Arsenal like to play their younger players in this competition so the odds Victor Chandler are offering for both the draw and the Wigan victory. Victor Chandlerare offering the best odds by a long way with a tasty 5/1 for the draw after 90 minutes and a massive 14/1 on Wigan upsetting the form book and getting the win. Both these prices look fantastic value and surely should be worth a small bet.

Our tip of the day however comes in the West Ham Vs Manchester United game with Manchester United coming on the back of an excellent win at the Weekend, we can’t see past an away win here. West Ham are a good price, especially being the home team, with Coral, William Hill, Betfred and Bet365 all going 4/1. The best odds for a draw also look appealing with Betfred and Ladbrokes offering the best betting odds of 11/4 but as we said, an away win looks the bet here. A large number of the bookmakers have all gone 4/5 on the away win and with West Ham playing inconsistent to say the least and ManUtd’s form improving this seems the bet of the day to us.

Moving onto the Wednesday fixtures firstly brings us the hugely anticipated Birmingham derby between Birmingham City and rivals Aston Villa. Being a hotly contested derby game this match could go either way and the bookies can’t really pick a winner either. Birmingham are slight favourites with home advantage and the best odds you can get 11/8 with quite a few bookmakers while an Aston Villa win can fetch betting odds of 23/10 with both Coral bookies and Victor Chandler. However, because of the nature of the tie and how competitive the match is likely to be we would be looking at the draw in this game with William Hill and Victor Chandler both offering best betting odds of 9/4 which looks good value to us.

The last game in the competition offers an interesting match between Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion. On paper West Brom’s form is currently alot better than Ipswich who have been struggling all season, but this is a cup game! The odds on a home win for Ipswich are quite interesting with a few bookmakers offering the best betting odds of 11/4 which is of good value for a home team. Those betting folk that like to follow the form book will also feel that they are catered for with appealing betting odds with Blue Square and 888sport both offering the best odds of 11/10 on the away win for West Brom. Again, this is another game where the odds on a draw are also appealing with Bet365, Victor Chandler and William Hill all offering the best price with odds of 13/5, another high value price!

Whatever you decide to bet on though remember there are many free betting offers to be gained including the 888Sport Free Bet where you can claim a £20 no lose bet as 888sport refund your first bet if it loses up to the value of £20, what better way to start betting on the Carling Cup quarter finals.
