The FA Cup final is the showpiece event of English football and in Chelsea against Manchester United we certainly have a fixture befitting the prestige of a big Wembley final.

The FA Cup has also taken on extra importance for both Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.

Having guided Chelsea to the Premier League title last season, Conte’s crown has slipped and the Blues missed out on a place in the top four. Mourinho fared better in that respect with Man Utd finishing second but the fans continue to grumble about an overly negative approach from the Portuguese manager.

Throw in the personal animosity between Conte and Mourinho and the rivalry between the two clubs and you have the recipe for a cracking FA Cup final.

Mourinho to Edge Out His Rival

The bad blood between Conte and Mourinho began at Stamford Bridge last season. Mourinho took umbrage with the way that Conte celebrated during Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Man Utd while the Blues manager didn’t believe he’d done anything wrong.

The war of words continued to rumble on to the point that some believed there would be a physical confrontation between the two men when their teams met at Old Trafford in February. In the end, they swallowed their pride and behaved but there is no love lost between the pair and they’d dearly love to get one over on their rival at Wembley.

Whoever ends up holding the FA Cup above their head on Saturday, it’s going to take a fair amount of luck. As the bookies’ odds suggest, this is a tough match to call and we think it could well take more than 90 minutes to decide the winner.

In the end though, we’ve come down in favour of Man Utd.

Chelsea ended their season with a 3-0 defeat against Newcastle. Their limp performance at St James’ Park summed up everything that’s gone wrong with the Blues this season and did Conte’s chances of remaining in his job no good at all.

While the Chelsea players will be expecting to play for a new manager next season, the Man Utd players know that Mourinho is going nowhere. The Portuguese is by no means loved at the club but he is respected thanks to his record in the biggest games. We think his nous and the motivation of his players will make the difference so recommend backing Man Utd to lift the trophy at 4/5 with Betfred.

If you fancy taking a bigger risk for a bigger potential reward, it may pay to bet on Man Utd winning the final in extra time at 9/1 with Betway.

Expect a Cagey Start at Wembley

This may be a tough match to predict but we can be fairly sure that it’s going to take a while for it to heat up. Even players of the calibre on display on Saturday will be nervous about playing in the FA Cup final in front of a full house at Wembley Stadium and both managers will seek to ensure their players make no mistakes first and foremost.

The best way to profit from this is by betting on the second half having more goals than the first at 11/10 with BetBright.

Sanchez to Give Man Utd the Edge

Alexis Sanchez may not have had the best start to life as a Man Utd player but he proved his credentials as a big game player with an excellent performance in the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham.

The Chilean absolutely loves playing at Wembley and he looks the man most likely to break the deadlock so back Sanchez to score first at 7/1 with Boylesports.
