England must quickly switch their focus from Sri Lanka to India as they try and beat the best side currently playing Test match cricket.
England saw off the Sri Lankan challenge in the longer format of the game quite easily but India will not let them off the hook. England have a balanced side with only one or two minor changes likely. This will keep the side confident and calm ahead of their biggest test outside of the Ashes. England are a best betting price of 21/10.
India will be in no mood to give up their title as the best current side in Test cricket. They have just won against the West Indies in the West Indies and they have the squad needed to get a win from a tour in England. India also enjoy a lot of support in England due to the number of Indians that have now settled in the United Kingdom. India are 11/4 with nearly all bookmakers.
Alastair Cook has to be worth a bet at 7/2 to score the most runs for his side in this game. Cook has been in the best form of his life and has been the best England batsman for at least the last six months. Cook looks as though he’ll score runs every time he goes out to bat and this match is not likely to be any different.
Sachin Tendulkar is the natural choice to score the most runs for India during this game. Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen to have ever played the game and his classical technique means he can get runs against the majority of sides. The little master will be under pressure but he should rise to the occasion.
James Anderson has to be backed in the betting to take the most wickets for England. There is no one better when it comes to bowling when the ball moves through the air and off of the pitch. Anderson will have too much skill and variation for some of the lesser experienced Indian players. He is 11/4 in a few places.
Graeme Swann is another obvious choice to be top bowler for England during the game. Swann is currently the best bowler in the world according to the rankings and he should relish the chance of ripping through India and getting his name on the famous Lords honours board. However, India will try and attack him which will put him under pressure.
Harbhajan Singh has to be backed to take the most wickets for India in this game at 3/1. Singh is one of the best off spinners in the world and has many different variations which are difficult for orthodox spinners to bowl. He has a good record in England.
Zaheer Khan is another obvious choice although the seamer has now lost much of his pace and relies on predictable variations and the errors of a batsman in order to get most of his wickets.
