England v Pakistan 4th Test Betting Preview and Bet Tips

At the start of the test series between England and Pakistan we thought we might be in line for something special. Thankfully that’s exactly what we’ve been treated to.

After Pakistan surprised many people by winning the first test at Lord’s, England bounced back to win two on the trot and now go into the final test needing just a draw to guarantee a series win. If England are to win the series (and they are as short as 2/13 with 32Red to do so) they will have beaten each of the nine test playing nations the last time they’ve faced them. England can also go to number one in the world with victory at the Kia Oval.

The England selectors avoided the temptation to make changes to the team for the Oval. They had toyed with the idea of bringing Adil Rashid into the fold to make the most of a pitch which should turn more than at either Old Trafford or Edgbaston but they’ve remained loyal to the team who have turned this series around.

If England make it to the top of the world rankings it is hard to argue that they haven’t deserved it. They were caught cold by the brilliance of Yasir Shah at Lord’s but have since nullified the leg spinner’s threat. They also had to dig very deep at Edgbaston. Going in to bat for the second innings with a deficit of over 100 runs, the bookies were expecting a Pakistan win but England batted incredibly well before the bowlers did their job, bowling the tourists out on the final day’s play.

There were more positives for Pakistan in the third test than the second but losing with an improved performance is sure to hurt their confidence and pride. While Pakistan will be feeling a little sorry for themselves, England are full of confidence and are desperately craving that number one ranking. The hosts cannot afford to take their foot of the gas but if they remain focussed they will surely win at biggest odds of 4/7 with Sky Bet.

One of the most pleasing things about this series for England cricket fans is the number of players who have stepped up and made vital contributions. England have a real strength in depth with both bat and ball so the Barmy Army know that a poor start does not necessarily mean a poor result. Still, the England fans will hope that they can really make things tough for Pakistan right from the off in order to grind their resistance down.

A good early start with the bat means Alastair Cook grinding out another big score. The England captain will be especially keen to perform in what could be a huge moment for English cricket so bet on him to be England’s top batsmen at 7/2 with Sky Bet.

A good early start with the ball means the England quicks picking up wickets in the first session. Of the England pace bowlers, Steven Finn has been particularly impressive having won back his spot in the team. He’ll look to extract every bit of pace and bounce from the Oval pitch and could be England’s top bowler at 9/2 with 10Bet.
