England Vs Pakistan ODI Cricket Betting

17/09/2010 – On Friday England take on Pakistan in the 3rd One Day international Cricket match at the London venue, The Oval. With Pakistan finally looking competitive in the last match between the teams this game could be alot closer than the betting suggests. Currently Blue Square are offering some of the best odds for an England win at 2/5 whilst Betfred and Victor Chandler have both offered odds of a Pakistan victory at 5/2.

Although Pakistan really have failed to impress on this tour, with more respected and experienced players now in the squad such as Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar and the much improved display in the last match 5/2 is a bit of a large price on Pakistan. We do except though that if you are an England cricket fan betting against them is a really tough call to make.

So what other bets are there that offer some value. Well first well look at the top batsman betting for each team as shrewd money can be made here. Firstly England’s highest scoring batsman. After scoring a huge 126 in the last game Andrew Strauss is a little short at best odds 7/2 so we would look a little further down the order.  Our selections for this bet would be a consistent Paul Collingwood who is 6/1 and the exciting hitting Ravi Bopara who is as high as 8/1 with Totesport. On the Pakistan side of things the betting odds are a bit closer between the major batsman with most ranging between 7/2 and 9/2 and here we would back Umar Akmal at Blue Square who are going 9/2 at the moment.

You can also bet on the top bowlers for each side and with the Pakistan side we would not be looking any further than one of the fastest bowlers in the World, Shoaib Akhtar. Blue Square are again offering some of the best odds in the market at 3/1 for the player that was very unlucky not to take more wickets in the last game and gave all the England batsman problems with his sheer pace. Maybe slightly boring of us but on the England side of the bowling betting we would be looking at the dangerous spinner and market favourite, Graeme Swann. Although he is relatively short in the betting, standing at odds of 11/4 we do believe that Swann is the most likely to ask the most questions of the Pakistan batting line up and take the most wickets in this match.

A few other nice bets we like are only available with certain bookies so you may have to chop and change but we are sure that some value can be gained with these bets. Firstly William Hill are offering odds of 8/11 on no one scoring a century in the game. Well, with conditions suggesting it will be cloudy and won’t be a batting pitch then this bet is a must. Another excellent bet we feel is the 5/6 that Ladbrokes are offering on Pakistan scoring 3 sixes or more in game. For a team that has some explosive batting and really chasing a victory this would be a cracking bet in our eyes. And as we have noted Blue Square for offering many of the best odds for this game then remember if you have not got an account with them if you make your first bet with them £5 you will get a Blue Square Free Bet of £10!
