France v Belgium Betting Tips

After one of the most entertaining and enjoyable World Cups of all time we have made it down to the final four.

You’d have made a lot of money for accurately predicting that France, Belgium, Croatia and England would be just one game away from the World Cup final. Of those four, it’s France and Belgium who had the most pre-tournament support in the betting so we should be in for a cracker when the two European nations meet in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday night.

Belgium’s Tactical Flexibility Makes Them the Value Bet

This World Cup has thrown up many surprises but for many, the biggest of the lot came during Belgium’s win over Brazil in the quarter-final.

It’s not that Belgium were able to beat Brazil – the Red Devils clearly have a wonderfully talented squad – but it was the tactical acumen shown by Roberto Martinez. The former Wigan and Everton manager took a punt by changing things up and switching from the 3-4-3 formation he’d used exclusively to that point and starting with a 4-3-3.

That formation allowed Belgium to cope with much of what Brazil threw at them and finally got the best out of Kevin De Bruyne who was finally able to effect things higher up the pitch.

It remains to be seen whether Martinez will stick with that plan now that right-back Thomas Meunier is suspended but Belgium’s ability to switch things up gives them an edge against France.

The way in which Belgium sat deeper against Brazil and utilised their ability to counterattack with pace, power and precision is also going to cause France trouble.

Les Bleus showed their wonderful attacking prowess against Argentina but struggled to create chances against Uruguay. It was only some uncharacteristic mistakes from the Uruguay back five that let France secure a 2-0 win and there is every chance they’ll find breaking Belgium down just as tough.

France are the bookies’ favourites but it’s Belgium who look the best value to win the match inside of 90 minutes at 11/5 with Betfred.

France to Make a Game of This Eagerly Anticipated Semi-Final

Brazil were disappointed with their performance against Belgium but they did at least manage to keep everybody on the edge of their seats with a goal from Renato Augusto on 76 minutes.

We think France will reach a point where they are just as desperate for a goal and that an even more attacking approach in the second half will pay dividends with a goal so make sure to bet on both teams to score at 20/23 with Betfair.

The danger with France going on the hunt for a late goal is that they open themselves up on the counterattack even more. The Red Devils can take full advantage so the riskiest option in our France v Belgium betting tips is on Belgium to win the game 3-1 at 28/1 with Black Type.

Hazard Ready to Grasp His Opportunity on the Biggest Stage

Those who regularly watch the Premier League know all about the talent that Eden Hazard possesses. The Chelsea forward has yet to show that he belongs in the same bracket as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi but he has a chance to lead his national team to the World Cup final on Tuesday.

Hazard seemed to relish Martinez’s new formation as much as any Belgian player on Friday and will be a constant thorn in France’s side. He’s also Belgium’s penalty taker so bet on Hazard to score two or more goals at 20/1 with Paddy Power.
