The German Masters is one of the lesser known ranking events on the snooker calendar but it is growing in significance and has some high profile players taking part.
Judd Trump is the current favourite to take the title at 7s with Blue Square. Trump has been in great form over the last 18 months and his new brand of attacking snooker means he manages to out score a lot of players before they have even had a chance to react. Trump is a little worrying when it comes to safety play but he should be determined to do well after missing out on the Masters final.
Mark Selby is the world number one and he’ll be feeling under a little bit of pressure to win a couple of ranking events to justify this position. He is 8s with BetVictor and has been in some good form over the last couple of weeks. He under performed at the Masters but played well in the Championship League before getting knocked out in the lottery of the snooker shoot-out.
Neil Robertson looks a very determined player this season and he seems to thrive in the criticism of his fellow colleagues. Trump in particular has been getting on his back but the Australian has showed that he can coast his way to ranking titles when everyone else starts to question him as a player. Robertson is 9/1 to take the title with BetVictor.
Ronnie O’Sullivan is one of the most frustrating snooker players in the history of the game. This is for the very simple reason that he has got the talent to win any title he desires but his application has led to him sliding down to 16 in the world rankings. O’Sullivan is not consistent and if he works on this then he’s a good bet to take this title as well as the Wales Open, China Open and the World Championship. He is also 9s with Sportingbet.
John Higgins is not the most attractive player in the world to watch but he keeps grinding out the wins and tournament victories that have made him such a legend of the game. Higgins battles the more attacking players through good safety and forcing them into making errors. The Scot is a 10/1 shot with BetVictor to take this title to add to his collection.
Mark Williams is a decent outsider at 11s with a couple of bookies to take this title. The two time World Champion has not been in the best of form and this is something that he’ll want to put right very quickly if he’s going to enjoy the rest of the season. The Welshman has shown that he can rise to the occasion when his back is to the wall and this will be no different. Williams is also one of the heaviest break builders in this field of players which puts him in with a good shot of making the highest break.
