Liverpool will have their work cut out to force a result at home against Newcastle United who remain in a good position.
Liverpool have slipped in recent weeks and are under pressure to put together a couple of results that will help the side to get moving. They have dealt with a lot of problems away from the football pitch and will want to react well after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against low placed club Blackburn Rovers. Liverpool are the favourites to win at 1/2 with the majority of the market at the moment.
Newcastle have also gone through a blip in form over the last couple of weeks. The Toon started the season well and quickly raced up the league to hold a top four position which it didn’t look like they would give away. However, they are still playing some good football and have been a little unlucky. Newcastle are 7/1 to win the match with Victor Chandler.
Liverpool will always feel the urge to attack when they play at home because the home support urges them to do so. They need to take the game to Newcastle because the visitors are very experienced at sitting back, taking a lot of pressure and then breaking up the other end of the pitch. Liverpool will also back themselves to create a lot of chances over the course of the game and a 2-0 win is 6/1 with a couple of bookies.
Newcastle will expect Liverpool to have a lot of the play and they will be content to soak up a lot of pressure over the course of the game. Newcastle have done well away from home this season when they have stayed solid in defence before bursting forward and utilising their best players in possession of the ball. Newcastle could steal a win in the region of 2-1 which has fantastic odds of 25/1 with Boylesports.
Luis Suarez is the natural choice to score the first goal for Liverpool despite his problems away from the field. Suarez is extremely effective when he plays up front on his own and also when he plays up front alongside another striker. His movement and pace will make him very difficult for Newcastle to mark. Suarez has scored a few goals for the club this season and has been possibly their best player during the patches the club has been on a good run of form.
Demba Ba is the man who can upset the party as far as Liverpool are concerned. The Newcastle striker is the top scorer at the club this season and he continues to pop up in decent positions all over the pitch that allow him to help put his side in front. Newcastle rely on him and this is another match where he needs to be spot on in terms of taking any chance that he’s presented with. Ba is put under a lot of pressure as Newcastle ask him to play alone frequently but he seems to thrive on this.
