This is very much a battle for the fourth Champions League place as Tottenham make the trip up to the North West to take on Liverpool.
Liverpool have the home advantage and their stats show this season that they are a much better unit when playing at home. They are missing a couple of players but will also get the chance to welcome a couple back which should work in their favour. Liverpool come off the back of some good form in domestic cup competitions which will give the side plenty of confidence. Liverpool are 23/20 with a couple of bookies to win.
Spurs go into this game as arguably the surprise package of the Premier League season. They have been playing some superb football and are possibly the best team in the league to watch at the moment. Spurs have talent and pace all over their pitch which means they are ideally setup to attack Liverpool on the counter attack if things don’t go their way. Spurs are 3/1 with BetVictor which should go shorter.
Liverpool will enjoy a lot of possession during this game but it’s how they translate that possession into goals. They have different attacking players all over the pitch who will be looking to get on the score sheet during the game. They can play the ball long and also thread it through the midfield which gives them plenty of options. Liverpool to win the match 2-1 is 17/2 with Coral.
Spurs will be quite prepared to sit back and soak up any pressure before unleashing counter attacks with pace down the wide areas. They have terrific players when it comes to running at the opposition defence while they are unorganised. Spurs would like to dominate the game rather than rely on a smash and grab job and a 2-1 away win is priced at 14s in a couple of places.
Luis Suarez is likely to make his return to the Liverpool team after he was banned for racially abusing a Manchester United player. He will go straight back into the team because he is that important and effective and he has enough experience to ensure that he is not bothered by the negative publicity he or his club have received. He is 13/2 with Stan James to net the first goal.
Gareth Bale has to be one of the best bets to score the first goals of the game for Spurs. Bale has been in great form over the last few weeks and his pace is one of the main reasons that Spurs always have to be considered a dangerous side. Bale is maturing with every game and his touch in front of goal is superb. He also gives Spurs an extra added edge when it comes to set pieces because he is a brilliant taker of free kicks in and around the penalty area. This could well make the difference in an otherwise tight match. Bale is 11s with Stan James to score first.
