There is a Monday Night Football fixture to look forward to in the Premier League in this round of matches and it is all set to be a cracker as Manchester United entertain Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, this is going to be the title-deciding clash that everyone had hoped for when the fixture list came out as United are a massive 15 points clear of City and even an away win isn’t likely to change the trophy heading to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea on Monday, so although many would say they have had a superb season, they are only able to win one piece of silverware this campaign.
Taking the title off City is going to be sweet though and if they can come out on top in this one, it would be the icing on the cake for the Scotsman.
The bookmakers do make United the favourites for this one and as they are on home soil, you have to say they are decent value at 13/10 with BetVictor.
As for Manchester City, they will be disappointed with the defence of the crown they won so dramatically last season and although it looks to be an almost impossible task, Roberto Mancini won’t allow his men to give up until United are mathematically out of sight.
The Citizens have been in decent form over the last few weeks and stuck four goals past Newcastle United last time out, so should be in good spirits.
A bet on an away win gives you odds of 5/2 with Coral, which again, is decent value.
Many will remember City’s 6-1 thrashing of United in this fixture last season and on that day, Mancini’s men played some world class football.
The Italian is after revenge here as well though after Robin van Persie’s deflected free-kick in the last minute at the Etihad Stadium back in December secured a 3-2 win for the Red Devils and really handed them the initiative for the campaign.
Bets on the first goal-scorer are going to be popular with the amount of attacking talent on show and at the moment, Wayne Rooney looks to be a good shout to break the deadlock at 6/1 with StanJames.
Then, you can back odds of 7/1 with William Hill on Carlos Tevez scoring first here, on the ground where he used to ply his trade of course.
We think that this could be a match where Rooney really shows his class and big-game prowess and that backing him to score two goals or more at 10/1 with Paddy Power is excellent value.
