The most famous Formula 1 race of them all – the Monaco Grand Prix – takes place this weekend and as ever, it will be an encounter that all drivers and constructors will be desperate to come out on top in.
It is always an exceptional race that attracts thousands and thousands of Formula 1 fans from all around the world.
Although many see the Monaco Grand Prix as a chance for the perfect weekend away, there is still a serious race to be won and as we enter the middle part of the season, the points up for grabs are precious.
Following his superb win on home soil in the Spanish Grand Prix last time out, many will expect another big performance from Fernando Alonso here.
The Ferrari driver has moved into third place in the current standings and another win here would see him move closer to, or possibly overhaul Sebastian Vettel at the top. He has won here twice in the past, but hasn’t been victorious since 2007.
Alonso’s odds on being at the top of the podium are 7/2 over at Ladbrokes.
The bookmakers do have Vettel as the favourite though and after three straight wins for Red Bull here, that isn’t much of a surprise.
The German is available at 14/5 with Sportingbet and bets on him coming out on top will be popular. Vettel won this race in 2011 but it has been his teammate – Mark Webber – who has the best record over recent years.
Webber won in 2010 and 2012 and this could be the race he ends his frustrating spell in 2013. A bet on Webber winning gives you odds of 12/1 with Betfred, which could be good value from the bookies.
Lewis Hamilton seems as though he is going to be in contention and this could be the race where he gets his first victory for Mercedes. The Englishman is at 6/1 with William Hill.
Kimi Raikkonen and Nico Rosberg then make up the list of contenders at 7/1 with Coral.
As ever, it is going to be an enthralling weekend in Monaco and you can expect to see plenty of glamour, but more importantly – some top quality Formula 1 action.
It is at this stage of the campaign where you often see which drivers look the more likely to challenge for the Championship.
When it comes to a recommended bet from this one, we think backing Felipe Massa to finish in the top three is good value from the bookies as BWIN have it happening at 15/4.
