Olympic Men’s 100m Betting

The men’s 100 metres race is the biggest race when it comes to Olympics athletics events. This race allows the fastest men on the planet to compete for gold.

Usain Bolt is the current favourites with the bookies and has a great chance of defending his title. Bolt has been carrying a little niggle in the last few months which has had an impact on his performances. However, he is a showman and he will be going all out to break his own world record and run quicker than anyone has ever run before. He is 8/11 with the whole market.

Yohan Blake is the strongest challenger to Bolt and the man who is most likely to take the title if Bolt fails. Blake has got the better of his fellow Jamaican in their last couple of outings which must be playing on Bolt’s mind. Blake is running faster than he ever has done before and he also stands an outside chance of breaking the current world record and running closer to 9.6 seconds. Blake is 13/8 with Bet365.

Tyson Gay has been one of the most consistent performers over this distance from the last couple of years. If he gets the perfect start and everything clicks then he can run very close to the world record speed of 9.69 seconds. Gay has been racing against Bolt for years and will know everything there is to know about his opponents. The bookies don’t think he really stands a chance and have priced him out at 14s.

Justin Gatlin is an outsider and an American with a lot to prove. He came into the 100 metres with a big reputation and with people saying he was the next big American sprinter. However, he has not lived up to this just yet and will be looking to put things right on the biggest stage in the world. Paddy Power clearly have no faith in him winning this race and have priced him out at 25/1 to win gold.

Asafa Powell is a Jamaican running legend and someone that Bolt has said he looks up to when it comes to this event. Powell dominated the sport a few years ago and set world records running over this distance. However, he is a little bit older and could find the going tough against the younger and quicker athletes in the race. Powell is 40s in a couple of places to win.

Adam Gemili is the young Brit who has burst onto the scene and someone who could well come to the top of this sport in the next few years. Gemili will just do well to qualify for the final and if he does then he will have the weight of a nation on his shoulders. He is a massive long shot at 250/1 with Boylesports because he has never run under ten seconds before in his life.
