Slaven Bilic became the fourth Premier League manager to lose his job this week. The constant churn of managers at the top level is nothing new and neither are the names perennially linked with the biggest jobs.
It’s going to be a late night on Saturday for European horse racing fans as one of the biggest meetings of the year, the finals of the Breeders’ Cup, is taking place in Southern California. Known as the 2017 World Championships in America, the two days of action includes some massive races with the biggest names in racing taking part. But, the most valuable race of the lot is the one and one-quarter mile, Breeders’ Cup Classic with its prize fund of $6 million.
It’s not often that the attentions of horse racing fans all around the world are turned to one track but that’s what we’ll get this weekend. Everybody in racing will be keenly following the action from Del Mar, Southern California as the Breeders’ Cup World Championships take place. European racing fans will be especially keen to watch the Breeders’ Cup Turf, a one-and-a-half mile race for three-year-olds and above.
Super Sunday ends with a trip to West London for Chelsea’s game against Man Utd. This has long been one of the biggest fixtures in the Premier League but the presence of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho in opposing dugouts gives the game even more of an edge. There is no love lost between the two managers who have publicly fallen out before. And, with both men under fire for the football their teams’ have played at times this season, we are sure to be in for a real battle at Stamford Bridge.
After a trip to Wembley Stadium to kick off Super Sunday the action moves immediately to Manchester for Arsenal’s trip to the Etihad Stadium. Man City’s win over West Brom on the weekend was their eighth in a row in the Premier League. That gives Pep Guardiola’s team a five point cushion over local rivals United at the top of the table after just 10 matches. With United playing immediately afterwards, Man City have a great opportunity to send out a message that they remain the team to beat by picking up another three points against the Gunners.
