Pakistan will be looking to bounce back after they were heavily defeated by England in the first ODI game between the sides.
Pakistan were not at the races at looked a little complacent as they set about their business. There are a few new players in the England side for this series and they will all be trying extremely hard to play well which will keep them in the side and give them a great chance at one or two places in the Test match team. Pakistan will rely on their experience for this second game and are odds on at 17/20 in a couple of places.
England were far from perfect in the first game and it was again the batting which let the team down in the whole innings. Only Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara emerged from the innings with any credit and it was only Cook’s century and Bopara’s half century which helped England set a target which turned out to be too large for Pakistan to chase down. England are 11/10 with Bet365 to go 2-0 up which will make it impossible for them to lose the series.
There are a number of talented batsmen in the Pakistan team. Umar Akmal has the potential to top score in any innings he plays in but he lacks the consistency needed to become one of the great power batters of world cricket. He tried his best to smash Pakistan back into the first game but it’s generally only a matter of time with these players until they hit a big score. Akmal is 8s with Ladbrokes to top score.
The more conservative punters will go for Cook to top score yet again in the second game for England. The way he played in the first contest was reminiscent of how he played in Australia in the respect that he looked almost the complete player at times. He is the leader of the team and will want to carry on setting the example for others to follow. Cook is 10/3 with most bookies on the market.
Shahid Afridi showed in the first game that he still has what it takes to move the ball both ways off the pitch as well as mixing up his pace. He is a very good and experienced bowler who broke through the England top order and he will be looking to do so again. He has to take wickets and work well with the other spinners because it’s been proved that England are weak against spin. He is 3s with Bet365 to be top bowler for his team.
Steven Finn bowled very well in the first game and is likely to feature again in the second. Finn is a tall and quick bowler who is able to send the ball down well over 90 miles per hour. This is always a very good weapon and the Pakistan batsmen clearly struggled against the extra pace when he opened the bowling first time round. Finn is 7/2 with most bookies on the market.
