Premier League Finals Night Betting Offers – 18th May 2017
After 15 long weeks, the 2017 Premier League of Darts finally comes to an end at the O2 on Thursday night.
The best darts players in the world have clocked up the miles, entertaining fans across Britain and Europe and we’re down to the final four of Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright and Phil Taylor.
The bumper crowd at the O2 will first be treated to the opening semi-final between van Gerwen and Anderson before Wright and Taylor battle it out for the second spot in the final.
Van Gerwen v Anderson
Mighty Michael van Gerwen rarely gives up an opportunity to prove that he is the best darts player in the world. The Dutchman proved exactly that over the last 15 weeks as he topped the table losing just two games in the process.
The defending champion has broken all sorts of records over recent years and is simply unbeatable when he brings his best darts to the oche and it is no surprise that he’s the bookies’ favourites to win the Premier League for the third time.
Anderson is a two-time world champion and a previous winner of the Premier League so there is no doubting his class. However, van Gerwen got the better of Anderson when they met just last week even though the home crowd were heavily supporting the Scotsman.
Van Gerwen relishes these big occasions and will likely get off to a fast start. That makes all the difference in this relatively short format so the bookies’ favourite is sure to book his place in the final. Our best bet, though, is on van Gerwen -1.5 legs at 4/9 with Paddy Power.
Wright v Taylor
Ever since making a run to the final of the 2014 World Championship, Peter Wright has played some of the most consistent darts of anybody at the top of the PDC. Some wrote Snakebite off three years ago but he keeps proving the doubters wrong and won his first major title at this year’s UK Open.
With his loud, flashy entrance and ability to hit 180s and triple figure checkouts, Wright is made for the Premier League but few will be supporting him against Taylor on Thursday.
After Thursday night, Phil Taylor’s race will be run in this competition. The most decorated darts player of all time is retiring after the World Championship in January so this Premier League has been something of a farewell tour for the Power.
That is not to say that he’s been taking it easy. Taylor rolled back the years to beat Adrian Lewis last week and make it through to the O2 and he’ll be desperate to at least have a crack at the final.
The six-time Premier League champion made it to the final against van Gerwen last year and may just be able to sneak past Wright to repeat that achievement. Certainly, Taylor looks like a good betting value at 7/4 with BetVictor.
You’ll have to wait until Thursday night for the chance to bet on the final itself but we’d recommend taking the chance now to back van Gerwen to win the Premier League outright.
You can get 4/6 with Paddy Power on MvG and it’s unlikely that you’ll get anything like that price when it comes to the final.
- Van Gerwen -1.5 legs against Anderson at 4/9 with Paddy Power
- Taylor to beat Wright at 7/4 with BetVictor
- Van Gerwen to win outright at 4/6 with Paddy Power
