Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid Betting Offers – 2nd May 2017
Making it to the semi-finals of the Champions League is a huge achievement. It takes a combination of talent, hard work, belief and luck to get through to the last four so just imagine how hard it is to do it seven seasons in a row.
The most successful side in the competition’s history, Real Madrid are looking to win the Champions League for the third time in four seasons. But, in order to book their place in the final at in Cardiff, they’ll first have to get past city rivals Atletico.
It’s fair to say that Diego Simeone has worked wonders since taking over as Atletico Madrid manager back in 2011. He’s managed to crack the duopoly of Barcelona and Real Madrid by winning the Liga title but the biggest competition of all has so far alluded him.
Twice Atletico have made the final of the Champions League but Real Madrid stood in their way both times. It goes without saying that Atletico are desperate for revenge, something the bookies have far from written off.
Atletico are a best price of 7/4 to qualify for the final. That does look tempting but we’re just not sure about the wisdom of taking that price given Real Madrid’s quality.
What we can be sure about is that Zinedine Zidane will be imploring his players to make the most of their home tie. Atletico Madrid are a much tougher prospect over two legs than a one-off so Real must maximise their home advantage.
You have to go back to March 2015 for the last time that Real Madrid lost a Champions League game at home. Barcelona did win at the Bernabeu recently but Real should make the most of their home form against Atletico even if Simeone’s men are sure to make life tough.
So, it could well be worth taking the odds of 3/1 that Coral are quoting on Real Madrid to win and there being under 2.5 goals in the game.
Zinedine Zidane has made a terrific start to his managerial career. In little over a year in charge he’s won the Champions League, has a chance of winning it again and is in the driving seat to win La Liga. Few managers, however, are given such an array of talent in their first job.
Of all the big game players available to Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo is the man most likely to make the difference on Tuesday night.
Ronaldo has come in for some criticism this season both from Real Madrid fans and his own teammates. There’s no doubt that he’s coming towards the end of his time at the very top level of the game but Ronaldo scored against Valencia on the weekend as is still more than capable of a big performance on Tuesday night.
His ability to score goals out of nothing and get on the end of well crafted moves makes him the man to back in the First Goalscorer market at odds of 10/3 with William Hill.
- Real Madrid to win and under 2.5 goals at 3/1 with Coral
- Cristiano Ronaldo to score first at 10/3 with William Hill
