The Premier League of Darts gets underway on Thursday evening and one of the pick of the ties sees Simon Whitlock go up against Adrian Lewis.
On their day, these two are capable of beating anyone in the game and both will have high hopes of winning the Premier League this campaign. They know a good start is key and that it is going to take a big performance for either of them to win this one.
Darts betting has become popular in recent years and the bookmakers are sure to be taking plenty of bets for this encounter.
Lewis was the runner-up of this tournament back in 2011 and Whitlock finished in second place last season, so they both know what it takes to reach the latter stages.
Neither would have been too happy with their performances in the World Championships though and will see this Premier League season as a chance to prove they are still two of the best that the world has to offer.
With how close this one looks to be, it certainly is a tough one to call and at the moment, the Australian, Whitlock, is the slight favourite to come out on top as he is at 11/8 with Boylesports.
He is known for raising his game in these big encounters and is often a very good finisher. If given a number of chances to checkout, no matter how many he requires, Whitlock will back himself the hit the trebles and then the doubles.
The Aussie is often an entertaining player to watch, so could have some of the crowd on his side on Wednesday evening.
Lewis does look to be a good value bet though as he is at 6/4 with Sportingbet. The Englishman could not make it three World Championship in as many years at the end of 2012 and he would have been frustrated by his performances.
The bookies are sure to take a number of bets on the correct score market for this one and Whitlock winning by seven sets to four looks to be the most likely result as it is at 5/1 with Bet365.
You can then back Lewis winning 7-5 at 6/1 with Paddy Power.
In terms of a recommended bet though, we do like the look of Lewis winning one 7/4 and the chances of this happening are rated at 9/1 with Ladbrokes.
It is set to be a bumper night of Premier League action and this should be a cracking way to set the tone for Phil Taylor v Michael van Gerwen.
