About Sportingbet

Sportingbet was founded by Mark Blandford in 1997 and was one of the first bookmakers to go online soon thereafter.

Sportingbet is a leading provider of sports betting, casinos, games and poker online and on mobile. It was established over 15 years ago in 1998 and acquired by GVC Holdings in March 2013.

The company was hit more than most when, in 2006, US legislation prohibiting online gambling was passed. Sportingbet was forced to stop accepting US customers on its poker site and sold off its US sports betting and casino businesses.  As a consequence, Sportingbet closed Paradise Poker in 2007 (although it retained the Paradise Poker brand name) and migrated players to its Sportingbet poker platform.

In October 2012, the Sportingbet board announced that it had agreed to a £530 million takeover bid from UK bookmaker William Hill and GVC Holdings.

GVC sportsbook brands also include Bwin, Betboo, Gamebookers and became a constituent member of FTSE 250 on 19th September 2016.

These days Sportingbet is very much a global company with over 2.5 million registered customers in 200 countries, placing over 1 million bets (sports, casino, poker and virtual games) a day.

Odds at Sportingbet remain competitive, although they are not quite at the top level compared with some of their rivals these days.

There’s long been an excellent selection of in-play betting at Sportingbet and there’s a wide enough range of sports and markets to keep any punter happy.

Sportingbet is regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority.

Mobile & Apps

The Sportingbet sportsbook mobile betting app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and is one of the most popular apps in the betting industry.

In addition to its sportsbook, there is also a casino, live casino and games available via your mobile devices.  There is also a separate Sportingbet Casino app designed to give you the very best mobile Casino experience

Whether you have Android, iPhone, Smart Phone, or tablet, you’ll still be able to claim all the online gambling promotions and Sportingbet bonuses.

The app features a Touch ID login facility, while the horizontal scrolling feature is perfect for finding your favourite sports betting markets quickly and easily.  There’s also a “quick bet” feature and you have access to all the site’s data and live streams as well as a dedicated ‘in play’ section.

The Sportingbet mobile app is very user-friendly and loading times for games, pages and features are all excellent.

Customer service can also be contacted through the app should you encounter any problems.

Deposit methods

There are all the regular options available when it comes to funding and withdrawing from your account with Sportingbet.

All major credit and debit cards, Neteller, Skrill (Moneybookers), Click2Pay, PaySafeCard and Paypal are among those being accepted.

As is the case with the vast majority of major bookmakers, there is no charge for any deposits or withdrawals to and from your account.

The minimum deposit and withdrawal amounts are £10 which is a little higher than some, but still perfectly acceptable for most punters.  Processing times for funding and withdrawals will vary depending on the method used, but they are fairly standard.

When it comes to security, Sportingbet has RapidSSL encryption that will safeguard all of your personal and financial information.

Customer service

There’s a comprehensive customer service at Sportingbet that’s available via all the usual channels.  Sportingbet customer service generally has a reputation for being friendly and professional, with most queries being dealt within a reasonable time frame.

Telephone support is available at 0800 028 0348 (Freephone) or on +353 1511 0840 if calling from abroad.  The phone support is also offered in a wide range of languages, in keeping with the Sportingbet global brand.

E-mail support is offered at admin@sportingbet.com or via an on-site contact form and there is also 24/7 Live Chat.

There’s a fairly basic ‘Help’ section on the site for general questions and there’s also the Sportingbet UK Twitter feed at @Sportingbet_com

Nominations and awards

Sportingbet’s name doesn’t appear to crop up too often when it comes to nominations and awards in the gaming industry, although in an increasingly competitive business it’s never easy to stand out from the crowd.

However, Sportingbet was nominated for the Sports Betting Operator of the Year at the CEEGAwards 2016 (Central and Eastern European Gaming Awards 2016).
